THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE INCREASED BUSINESS DONE Increased business was done on the 'Auckland Stock Exchange yesterdav and buyers' operations were spread over most sections of the investment market. Thei;e was a strong demand for Government loans and offers for the 4 per cent issues were lifted" by about os all round. The 19-19 4 per cent bonds changed hands at £lO2 os, a rise of £1 os since November, and the 1955 issue was done 12s 6d higher at £lOl 355. An odd lot of 1946 bonds gained os on sale at £lO3 ss. Mount Albert Borough debentures sold at substantially higher prices and the Amalga-mated-Brick (Auckland) issue also gained in a transaction at £93. There were sellers in the majority Ox bank issues , and some 'i concessions were made. New South Wales, which were .available 15s lower at £33 10s, changed handset £33 8s 6d, a reduction 'cf £1 Is 6d. New Zealands maintained the advanced levels and a sale Is 2d higher at 49s 8d was followed by two further transactions at 49s 9d. Unions were done ex dividend at £lO, a fall of 2s. Inquiry for insurance shares was a shade firmer. Business was confined to Australian Provincials, which sold twice unchanged at 10s lid. In the general sections Colonial ! Sugars were sought at £62 and quotations were reduced by 10s to £64 10s. Offers were -lifted for Bvcrofts, which were transferred 6d higher at 42s 3d. Farmers' Tradings, ordinary, were done at the current rate, the B preference issue being.a shade dearer on sale. Australian Iron and Steel, preference, sold at 21s 3d, a rise of 7s since last July. Unchanged business was done in New Zealand Newspapers, while Farmers' Auctioneerings, B preference, were cheaper on sale. Levels in the mining group were fairly steady. Mount Lvells opened on sale 4d lower at 25s 6d, further business / being recorded at 25s 7d and 2os 6d.
