RESULT OF WHITEWASH

The beneficial result to pasture growth from the use of whitewash in marking boundary lines on cricket pitches and other recreation areas is usually observed at this> time of the year when the parched grounds cause the turf to wilt and brown. This is particularly noticeable at present on the playing fields of King's College, at Middlemore. Throughout the bare playing fields there are a series of circles and short parallel lines of bright green grass and clover. The lines are about 6in. wido and clearly define cricket pitches and other sports areas. The growth follows the boundary markings made during the season with ordinary whiting by groundsmen.
