SUSTENANCE SCHEME
OPERATION NEXT WEEK CASH GRANTS REVISED The sustenance scheme recently framed by the Unemployment Board will come into operation in Auckland next Monday u when the new scale of payments will be applied. At the same time there will be an increase in the rates paid to those men who for various reasons have been in receipt of cash grants in lieu of work. The men receiving the cash grants amounting to half pay are not affected by the sustenance plan, but from Monday they will receive 50 per cent of the relief rates operating before the imposition of the 10 per cent cut instead of 50 per cent of tho current relief rates. The amount of the increase in the cash grant is shown in the following table:—
