WATCH 163 YEARS OLD

PARNELL MAN'S PROPERTY An old watch in the possession of Mr. A. H. Cramvell, of 8 Crescent Road, Parnell, which the owner had appraised by an expert following recent articles in the New Zealand Herald concerning old timepieces, has been found to be 163 years old. The expert who examin.ed the -watch was able to tell its age from the hall-mark. The watch, which is of silver, is of the verge escapement type. It was made by William Nash, while the case bears the name of William Smith, clock and watchmaker, Musselburgh, Scotland. The watch was originally the property of the present owner's father, Mr. Robert Cranwell, of Auckland, who on one occasion took it to pieces and reassembled it satisfactorily. It is not now in .working order.
