GRUELLING WRESTLING

WALKER WINS AGAIN THE DEFEAT OF MAMOS GREEK INCAPACITATED [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Monday Incapacitated by a heavy fall out of the ring, Harry Mamos lost to George Walker in the seventh round of a gruelling wrestling contest to-night in the Wellington Town Hall. This was the Greek wrestler's first defeat of the season, after he had fully extended the New Zealand champion. Two falls were taken. In the second round Mamos picked Walker up near the corner, carried him to the centre of the ring and executed a slow aeroplane spin that concluded with a heavy dump, after which Walker was easily pinned. In the fifth round Walker sprang a surprise by taking a submission fall, with Mamos' pet hold, the Greek cross.

The contest ended abruptly in the seventh round. Mamos hoisted Walker near tho corner, preparing for another aeroplane spin, when Walker seized the top rope with one hand. Mamos tugged repeatedly in an attempt to break the grip, and then throw Walker over the ropes. Walker fell on to the edge of the ring, taking Mamos over with him and kicking free while the Greek was in midair. Mamos cleared the dais and fell heavily on to the floor. He was unable to return and the doctor examined him before he was assisted to his dressing room.
