CHAMPION JOCKEY GORDON RICHARDS' FEAT PROSPECT OF NEW RECORD British Wireless RUGBY. Oct. 4 The champion English jockey, Gordon Richards, for the first time in his career, rode all the winners in each of the six events at the Chepstow race meeting today. Ho has now ridden 212 winners this season, and requires only 35 further wins in the remaining 40 racing days of the present season to beat the 48-year-old record of Fred Archer. NEWMARKET SUCCESSES FORTUNATE SUPPORTERS LONDON, Sept. 20 By riding three successive winners at Newmarket this afternoon, Gordon Richards brought his total of wins for the present season to 200. The 200 th winner was priced 20 to 1 againsr. Richards has still 43 possible racing davs in which to surpass Tommy Loate's 222 winners in the 1893 . season and Fred Archer's record of 24G in 1885. Richards' mouiits were a valuable investment for stay-at-homes last week; a £1 stake on all his mounts showed a profit of £ls 8s \ TAKANINI TRACK NEWS A GOOD SIX FURLONGS ALIGNMENT, EXAGGERATION The weather was fine for training operations at Takanini yesterday and some interesting gallops were performed on the middle grass, which was in excellent order. Alignment, Exaggeration, Gold Pocket and Eldora were among those to record pleasing efforts. Alignment (Forsyth) was hanging on well a neck in front of Exaggeration (Jones) at the end of six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, a good gallop. Both horses have come on well during recent weeks and will be in good shape for Avondale. Gallant Knight strode along over the last furlong of his work. He i 3 an attractive galloper and should turn out a good winner with a little experience. Gold Pocket (Jones) was a neck in front of Top Light (Fearn-, with Holly Lu (Fergus) several lengths away, at the end of half a mile in 49 4-ss. Gold Pocket did his work well, but Top Light was tiring at the end, and Holly Lu recorded one of his worst efforts. Gay Sheila (Walters) and Speedmint (Doig) went easily from tho seven furlongs to run home from tho six in 1.21 2-5. Both were on the bit throughout, but they worked pleasingly and Gay Sheila could have done a lot better. A. Tinker will ride Speedmint in the Avondale Cup and Gay Sheila in the Guineas. High Crest (Gilmer) moved well over three furlongs in 38 2-ss, a satisfactory effort, as she has not been up long after an enforced spell Thespis (Chote) and Tatyoon (Burgess) were on terms over half a mile in 51 2-ss, Tatyoon going on for another three furlongs. Ho continues to work solidly, and Thespis is now showing signs of progress, although still backward. Sir Willonyx (Forsyth) was going well at the ond of six furlongs in 1.22 4-5. He is working freely for a maiden and is likely to show up at some of tho minor meetings. Gay Blonde (Grice) was going better than Whirl Points (Walters) at the end of two furlongs in 245. Gay Blond© is very forward and her condition will make her a formidable candidate for tho Avondajo Stakes. Whirl Points is also doing well, but at present is not oa good as her stable mate. , , . Nun Nicer (Jones) was kept up to his work while running two furlongs in 21b. Ho is a lazy customer who has taken on a racier appearance during tho past fow weeks. , , .. Full Measure (Miles) ran a mile in 1.50 4-5. He showed plenty of dnsli in the early stages, but slowed up at the end. Ho is in good condition, bui may benefit from a race or two after which his best fouu mav bo shown. . . . Cherry King (Gilmer) was doing his work in free style to run six furlongs in 1.20. He has quite recovered from his racing in the South and will be ready to snow good form at Avondale. Tavern Knight (Gilmer) ran three furlongs in 40s without being fully extended Ho is brightening uo again and there should be littlo amiss with him when he strips at Avondale next weak. Eldora (Forsyth) was going well throughout a six-furlongs gallop. She ran tho first two furlongs in 24s and came homo strongly in 1.17 3-5, a good effort for one of her class. She is not engaged at Avondale, but should bo heard from in the near future. _ Rereatu (Forsyth) sprinted half a mile in 50s and did it well. He should make a, showing in hack company the first timo he is produced. High Tea. who was exercised nt the barrier on Wednesdav. was let of! with nn easy three furlongs H»> is a big youngster and may not show his best for some weeks yet.
