•eWAITAKERE PIPE-LINE TENDERS FOR RECONDITIONING Tenders are to be called by the Auckland City Council for reconditioning the Waitakere pipe-line. Reporting to the council last evening the waterworks engineer, Mr. A. D. Mead, recommended that tenders be called for the work of cleaning, repairing and recoating the pipes, together with the supply of such new pipes, bends and joints as might be required, and that the pipes be lifted, transported to and from the factory and relaid by day labour under the control of his department. The recommendations were adopted. In connection with tho construction of the Mount Hobson reservoir, it was decided to carry out the work with the council's own labour, utilising relief works labour under conditions already decided.
