NATIONAL DEBT
LATEST, BRITISH FIGURE AMOUNTS OWING FROM ABROAD LONDON. Sept. 12 A statement issued by the Treasury reveals that the national debt on March 31 was £7,767,811,000. An accompanying list of loans still owing to Britain includes: Russia, £1,118,972,000; Turkey (for assistance during the Crimean War), £2,260,000; Egypt (Alexandria indemnities) £3.517,000.
