# SCIENTIST'S SUGGESTIONS SCHEME FOR STRAIGHTENING (Received September 13. 5.5 p.m.) . LONDON. Sept. 12 Dr. Miles Walker, professor of electrical engineering in Manchester University, propounded a scheme to the British, Association to-day for the straightening of the bed of the.Thames. He said the enhancement of site values would pay the cost of the constructional work. Spaces above railways ought to be used for arterial roads, said the professor.
