AEROPLANE DAMAGED
ACCIDENT WHEN TAXMNG WING STRIKES A TREE [by telegraph—own correspondent] KAIKOHE, "Wednesday A mishap occurred to one of the Auckland Aero Club's Gipsy Moth aeroplanes at Kaikohe this afternoon. Mr- H. J. D. Lambert, of English Industries, Limited, and Mr. W. J. Sexton, both members of the club, left Auckland on a business trip, arriving at Kaikohe at 10 a.m. They were about to return to Auckland this afternoon and were taxi-ing into position for taking off when the downward slope of the field used for landing prevented the machine from turning as quickly as required, with the. result that the right wing struck a poplar tree. The wingp were damaged as well as part of the understructure and propeller. The club's ground engineer will arrive in Kaikohe to-morrow to decide whether the machine will be repaired locally or railed to Auckland.
