THE ASSOCIATION GAME

PROGRESS IN THE SCHOOLS MATCH TO BE REPLAYED High appreciation of the propaganda work done by touring teams was expressed by Dr. Niel McDougull, chairman of the control board of the Auckland Football Association at last night's meeting, particular stress being laid on the extension of the code in both the primary and secondary schools in the southern districts. This progress was referred to both by Mr. G. T. Lee in his report on the recent successful tour of the secondary, schools' teams and of the junior tour to Gisborne, which yras reported upon by Mr. C. G. Ballnntyno. Messrs. C. G. Ballantyne and A. .Chappell, managers respectively of the Flyger Rose Bowl and primary schools' representative teams, reported that arrangements were well in hand for the visit to Hamilton on Saturday next and the chairman expressed the best wishes of the board for a successful visit. ''; The minor division committee reported that in connection with the protest _ from Tamaki against Tramways, for. playing a suspended player, it had no option, according to the rules, but to uphold the protest, but at the earnest request of the Tamaki Club, and considering the extonuating circumstances, which made the penalty severe, it was agreed to replay this match. The ineligibility of players in A teams to day in B grade, and vice versa, in all knock-out competitions, was also referred to, when the protect of the Onehunga Club against "the North Shore sixth grade team for a breach of this rule was upheld by the minor division committee. The following ground officials were appointed for Saturday:—Blandford Park, Messrs. W. Walker and F. Baker; Onehunga, Mr. J. C. Sibbin; 'North Shore, Mr. W. Morris; Western Springs, Mr. W. D. M. Glaister. DOMINION FINANCES HIGHER FEES PROPOSED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The New Zealand Football Association last night adopted proposals of the fipance committee, drafted to assist' the council financially. All first and second division players, it is proposed, shall be charged an annual registration fee of 2s 6d to be apportioned to the council and the affiliated associations concerned in the .proportion of three to two; all third, division players Is v each, the division ratio being two to one' It was also proposed to raise the Chatham Cup entrance fee to £2 2s and the annual subscriptions from associations from £5 5s to £8 8s for major bodies and from £2 2s to £4 4s for minor bodies. It is estimated that an additional £240 will be raised annually by these means, and it is suggested that the first and second proposals of the registration fees should be reserved to meet the losses on the Chatham Cup. The committee was of opinion that failing these ideas being agreed to. the only alternative was that all grants for the immediate future should be stopped. Th.e - suggestions will be forwarded to associations and will be finally discussed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association.
