j PROPOSALS AT OAMARU REPORT BY ENGINEER [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] OAMARU, Wednesday The former chief engineer of the Public Works Department, Mr. F. W. Furkert, reported to the Oamaru Harbour Board yesterday on the proposed breakwater extension to enable the harbour to be deepened and a better entrance provided by a wing extending easterly 880 ft. frepi the present breakwater. The cost is estimated at £96.500. Tne board referred the report to the standing committee for a report to be presented to a special meeting later.
