BRASS BAND CONTESTS
DISTRIBUTION OF PROFITS PALMERSTON NORTH ATTITUDE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] PALMERSTON NORTH. Wednesday Negotiations with the local committee and the New Zealand Brass Bands' Association, for conducting the next Dominion contest here in February, have resulted in a hitch over the distribution of the profits. The local committee decided last evening that, unless its decision regarding the distribution was accepted, it would not conduct the contest. The association intimated that the first charge on the profits should be £SO for the association as a contest fee, plus 10 per cent of all profits. Various other minor recommendations were received.
After a discussion it was decided to offer the association 10 per cent of the profits, with a maximum of £SO, and, if this offer were not accepted, to refuse to conduct tho contest.
