MIGRANTS' COMPLAINTS
SETTLERS IN VICTORIA PROTEST TO BRITAIN' LONDON, Aug. ill The Star gives prominence, under the headings, " British Settlers Appeal for Justice," " Bitter Cry From Victoria," to a 600-word cablegram from Victorian settlers describing the schemo for the settlement of migrants' complaints as " an astonishing piece of chicanery and an unjust and immoral attempt to deprive settlers of their rights, which tho British public will not permit when they realise tho facts." Tho cablegram adds: " Hundreds will return with malice in their hearts toward Australia, where they were cheated and denied justice. Tho British Government's imprimatur on future migration projects will carry no validity, as tho scheme contravenes Mr. Thomas' undertaking in tho Houso of Commons that full justice would be done to British nationals." It is understood that tho matter will be raised in tho House of Commons when Parliament resumes.
