Campion, St. ('! .ia; M. Cotiwny, Don Emm, and W. Pine, La Crown. The Hawera horses have made steady progress and Bomo 6take-inoney is likely to como their way. Of the maidens No Doubt has shown narked improvement, having como to hand quickly, and he should bo hard to dispose of over short courses. Haunui ami St. Clara nro also weli forwurd and havo been doiiii: good track work. March Alone has also made quick progress and is again showing galloping ability in his track essays. Although last season he was rather disappointing, he is a good gallopor and is in capital condition to si art the new season.

During his let-up Gibraltar put on some much-needed condition and lie looks better than at any time since coming to Hawera. although lie still works stiltily. Weatherzane is nice and bright and goes determinedly in his gallops, but his action will always prejudice him in the eyes of track-watchers.

Little Doubt has never looked better and has been working well, but very rarely does lie run up to his track form. Brown will probably try him over tho hurdles later on. C. Jackson has started giving Aga Khan moro solid work. The Chief Ruler gelding is still carrying plenty of condition, but is such an energetic worker that a few weeks' good pace work should tako oil tho superfluous lumber. , . . Carfex .is in great order and is doing his work very attractively. This morning he went at a solid pace over a mile and a-half. running the last three furlongs in a tick under 13s. He is a good-winded horse and with suitablo weights should finish out a race liko the Mitclielson Cup in rare style. M. Conway took charge of. the hunter Don Errnii on the eve of tho Wanganui Hunt meeting and the gelding was successful in winning his raco very easily. By Daiillolf. he is related on the dam's side to the fair steeplechase performers l'ikimai and Haeremai. He is a bold galloper, with plenty Ol pare for hurdling and is a fine jumper. Messrs. Startup Brothers have recommissioned Calamine and she is again under Conway's cave. After a lengthy spell she looks n bit in the rough at present, but should shape, up in time for tho hurdle races at Christmas. ... , The maiden Round Table is shotvnig cood form and in the maiden race at New Plymouth will be ridden by B. IT. Morris. This full relative to High Falutin' looks like being useful over a distance when properly seasoned. Copey is to be turned out for a good spoil and is' not likely to raco again until next steeplerhase season. The Tiger has resumed regular track work, but at present his tasks are, of the easy order. He is looking in capital condition and will probably compete at the Wanganui Spring Meeting. Richfield is hitting out, well and this morning was alongside Little Doubt at the end of five furlongs in 1.5 3-5 .... , ~ K Voitre will ride Initio Doubt and r»o Doubt at Ne-v Plymouth. "Whennakura ha-d His first try-out at the barrier during the week and jumped away nicely for a novice. . , . , Silver Wings is doing nicely in her preliminary work ~ There was very little fast work tnis morninKc Doubt and Richfield Jjfll* loped on the trial grass, finishing together over five furlongi in 1.5 3-5. On tho plough March Alone was in front of Weatlierzailo and Hamuli at the end of half a mile in 535. Round Table sprinted home threo furlones on the Band in 435. St. Clara, Don Enntt, Silver Baud and Carfex nil performed solid pace work. Aga Khan. Flying East. Attentive, Oriel. Sandlark and Gibraltar did routine work. NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP The speedy hack Landlubber is at present enjoying a spell. Owina to tho fact that Landlubber has frequently been troubled with soreness, lie has been difficult to train, otherwise he would have a better record.

The disappointing United i« being kept in steady work and should be in jsolid condition for the spring meetings. United has failed "to fulfil his early promise and improvement upon his latest running will be necessary if ho is to return to tho winning list.

The proposed visit of Silver Ring to Australia has been cancelled and he will do his spring racing in New Zealand. Silver Ring is being given plenty of useful work by R. W. King and he has been moving alonE very freely without doing anything exceptional.

Reports of tho latest training nt Randwick indicate that Dole is making very favourable progress. His five furlongs with Wollun on Thursday was a smart effort and demonstrated that hp has not lost any of his brilliancy. Dole is now being trained by J. T. Jamieson.

The two-year-old gelding by Gay Shield from Lady Kerman is making very satisfactory progress in his preparation and is carrying an improved appearance. So far he has not shown anything out of tho ordinary in tho short sprints he has been allotted, but he ia developing well physically and apparently is thriving on his work.

The three-year-old Deputy Ruler, by Chief Ruler from Duchess Eudorua. was shipped to Sydney by the Marama yesterday under thp charge of T. Nash. He is expected to bo ready to race soon after his arrival in Sydney and in order to see him compete his owner, Mr._ C. M. Emanuel, will leave by tha Aorangi on September 4.

The two-year-old filly Velocity by Captain Bunsby from Volopia. is thriving well on useful work and lately sho had improved considerably in appearance. Velociter is small, but sh.e. is eturdi y built como to hand more quickl? than her stable mate, the Captain Bunsby—Chans filly, who is moro ran.iy, and was backward in condition when first placed m work.
