WESTERN AUSTRALIA BIG BRITISH EXPEDITION PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE AIR IMPORTANT PART FOR RADIO By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 24. 5.5 p.m.) Times Cable LONDON. Auk. 21 Wirelessly controlled aeroplanes flown by Royal Air Force experts constitute the latest method of securing aerial photography. A large force of motorlorries equipped with wireless will form part of the biggest and best-equipped aerial survey expedition ever organised in Britain. This expedition is to go to Australia shortly in order to execute the most extensive survey of the remote Western Australian gold areas yet attempted. The members of the expedition, the organisation of which is being carried out under the advice of Vice-Admiral H. P. Douglas (retired), who is an Associate of the Institute of Civil Kngineers, will survey a widespread area of 1200 miles, largely desert. J he object is to assist Western Australian mining corporations and geologists to locate new gold formations. Tho operations probably will involve photographing 88,000 square miles and will be directed by wireless from the base. Ihe Australian Government has been invited to make full use of the organisation and the experience gained.
