BUYING TOBACCO SHARES
FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE SALESMAN TO BE TRIED [BY TELEGEAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday • Charged with obtaining £l2B by falsely representing that he was a representative ox the Premier Tobacco Company, Auckland, Edgar James Wilson, a salesman, aged 37, appeared in the Police Court before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day. Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial. Bail was allowed. Olive Barraclciugh, wardmaid at the Christchurch Public Hospital, said that accused saw her in regard to the purchase of Premier Tobacco Company shares, and she agreed to buy 20, £1 shares. Accused gave witness to understand that he was a represeniative of the company. Evidence on similar lines was given by Elizabeth Smith, of Durham Street, who said she paid accused £125 for shares.
