Mr. J. W. Frater left for the South' by the limited express last evening. Mr. J- Stanton, city solicitor, left by train for Wellington last evening. - Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., left for Wellington by the limited express last eveningMr. G. W. Hutchison, Mayor of Auckland, will leave the city to-day for a brief holiday; Mr. .T- A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, loft for Wellington last evening. Dr. E. Marsden, Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, arrived in Auckland yesterday. He is at the Star Hotel. The Rev. Norman Burgess, of the Linwood Congregational Church, Christchnrcb, has accepted a call to tho Napier Congregational Church. Mr. Geoffrey Ollivier, tennis chanipion of New Zealand for six years, will leave Christchurch in about a fortnight's time to take up an appointmcnt in Auckland. Mr. H. E. Field, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Field, of Timaru, has been awarded tho degree of doctor of philosophy of London University, and has accepted an appointment at the London University.
Mr. A. M. Seaman, Mr. J. M. Elliffe and Mr. H. C. Robinson left last evening for Wellington to attend a meeting of tho council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. They expect to return to-morrow morning.
Mr. E. A. Cameron, who has been appointed manager of the Wanganui branch of the Bank of Australasia, is a passenger on tho Mariposa, which is due at Auckland from Sydney to-mor-row. Ho was formerly on the bank's inspectoral staff in New South Wales. Mr. G. McNamara, Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, and Mr. A. Marshall, Controller of Ac counts in the same department, arrived from Wellington yesterday and aro at tho Grand Hotel. They expect to leave for the South this evening.
