Day" at tho Avondalo [Women's Club drew a pood attendance of members and young people to the Blockhouse Bay Hall. Miss E. Newton presided. A vote of sympathy was passed to tho secretary, Miss Ingram, and Mrs. "Weir, whose mother recently passed away. Mrs. Eilene Riley was responsible for two plays, " Tho Witch's Parlour" and -"Merry and Bright," and Miss K. Sheat for an Irish and a Mickey Mouse ballet. by iris Ashton, Mavis Beeroft, duets by Dorothy and James AVeir, recitations by .Tames Fisk, Molly "Wood, Margaret Whale, Dorothy Aslilon, a cornet solo by Norman Ashton and a violin solo by Trevor Welsh were enjoyed. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. H. Bollard. A papertearing competition was held for the children, the prizes being won by Yvonne Denny and Bruce Davis. Community singing and the serving of afternoon tea by Mrs. March and members *>f the committee closed a very pleaslint meeting.
