THEFT OF WATCH

INCIDENT AT WHANGAREI [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday The theft of a watch, valued at 10s, was admitted by Arthur Brace, in the Police Court to-day. The watch was the property of Adam Frederick Thomson. Senior-Sergeant Powell said Mr. Thomson left his office unattended for about 20 minutes and when he returned the accused was in the office. He said he was in search of work. Tho watch was missing. Accused said he had had v a few drinks during tho day, but otherwise he could not explain his conduct. Ho could do only light work, as his health was not good. The magistrate, Mr. G. N. Morris, said that accused had a long list of convictions for vagrancy, but as he had been out of gaol for threo years he would not put him back again. Accused was ordered to como up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. He was advised to get on a, farm or into a single men's camp.
