SALARY CUTS TO STAND BUS SHELTER SHEDS Motions to rescind the decision to dispense with the services of the assistanttown clerk and to restoro the most recent salary reductions of other members of the staff were defeated at last evening's meeting of the Takapuha Borough Council. It was decided to demolish the jazzboard in Milford Park and use the timber for the erection of shelter sheds foP bus pass>engors at Saltburn Road, Minnehaha Avenue, Northcote Road and Preston Avenue. , A request by the North Shore Water Board for details concerning the borough water supply was acceded to. "These details are required by the board before it can act further in the proposal to obtain water from the Waikato River," said the Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven. It was decided to carry out improvements to Taharoto Park, Takapuna, including the formation of a hockey field. Permission was granted to the Viotoria League to hold .a street collection in the borough on Daffodil Day, September 1. It was decided to again urge upon the Post and Telegraph Department the need of a public telephone booth and a twice-daily postal delivery at Bayswater. A letter was received from the department stating these facilities could not yet bo granted.
