LOSING HIS STRENGTH WIFE FREE TO NURSE HIM (Received August 22, G. 5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Aug. 21 The Indian Nationalist leader Gandhi is in the Sassoon Hospital, Poona. He was removed there yesterday from Yeravda prison because of its better medical'' facilities. Gandhi's strength was decreased as the result of his fast and his weight is now only 951b. He insists upon continuing bis fast in spite of the desire of the authorities and his friends that he should continue to live and devote himself to the cause of tho "untouchables" and other work of social reform/' It was stated in the Bombay Legislative Council to-day that two friends, in addition to his wife, who has been released from gaol to nurse him, will lie allowed to visit Gandhi daily. It is not intended to employ forcible feeding. Private doctors will be permitted to treat Gandhi if he should so desire.
