CASE AT TANEATUA BOY DIES IN HOSPITAL [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Tuesday A case of sleepy sickness has occurred at Taneatua, resulting in the death of Donald McPherson, aged 12 years, sou of Mr. and Mrs. D. McPherson, of Taneatua The boy was in his usual state of health last Thursday, but after going to bed he was seized with convulsions and became unconscious. A doctor was summoned, and immediately ordered the patient's removal to the Whakatane Hospital, where he died within 24 hours without recovering consciousness. No other cases have been reported and it is hoped that the case proves to be an isolated one.
