RECENT NELSON CASE' "I _ v My i FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS< ■ ;4fsfcf|pj APPEAL TO PARENT BODY ' [bi telegraph—own CORRESPONDENT] IvELSON, Tuesday A ruling by the New Zealand Rugby! ■ Union is to be sought in connection with the recent Rugby fiasco at Nelson when the Pirate team refused to take . the field against Rivals under the referee appointed for the match. The Nelson Referees' Association wrote to the Nelson union, stating that' after careful consideration the asso* ciation was not prepared to accept tha union's vote of censure recently passed. The letter was received. The Rival Club wrote protesting against tho union's decision that tha Rival-Pirate match be played at a later date. The letter stated that the club was forwarding a statement of the cir. cumstances of the case to tho New Zealand Union for a ruling. Tho club - claimed that the Nelson union was in error in its ruling and that Rivals should have two championsmp points.

The union decided to forward all cor« respondence and relevant matter to tli<j New Zealand Union, together with tha Nelson union's explanation of the position. A sub-committee was appointed to draft the letter to the New Zealand Union.

The Rival delegate' explained tha attitude of his club in the matter. Jts members felt very strongly over the affair and that the case should be for« warded to the highest quarter, whero it would be thrashed out. It was resolved that a special meet* ing of club delegates be held to con« sider the preseftt constitution of the Nelson Referees' appointment board and the rules relating thereto.
