FAREWELL AFTERNOON

The members of the St. Philip's Guild and several friends met at. the parish hall, St. Heliers, on Monday to bid farewell to Mrs. A. Holdsworth and her mother, Mrs. Wright, who have been residents of St. Heliers Bay for nearly 40 years. They are leaving shortly for Waimauku. Items were given as follows:—Piano, solos by Mrs. Elmbranch, recitations by Miss Alice McKellar, fancy dancing by Miss Athalie McCarr and solos by the Rev. C. Houchen. A competition was won by Mrs. McKellar. The vicar spoke of the great assistance that the guests of honour had given to the Church and of the high esteem they were held in by the residents of St. Heligrs. The presentation of a brass jardiniere was made to Mrs, Holdsworth and a brass bell on a stand to Mrs. Wright, senr., by Mr. Houchen.
