SNOOKER
OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP There was another large attendance at Phillips' billiards parlours last night, when A. Cliappell beat J. Dryland in the open enooker championship. Chappell started the first game with a 27 break and. although Dryland tried hard to overhaul him, the handicap proved too much and Chappell won by 60 points to 39. In the second game Dryland pleased the spectators with his fast potting and beat his opponent by 53 points to 39. The deciding game was fairly even until Chappell obtained a break of four pinks with the last four reds and thus placed himself in a comfortable position. He eventually won by 75 points to 32. The lost game before the semi-finals will be played to-night, when R. Davies. last year's champion, will play R. Fredatovitch. The semi-finals will be played to-morrow night and on Thursday night.
