MANUKAU SENIOR CLUB
The report presented at tho first annual meeting of the Manukau Senior Model Yacht Club stated that the past season had been a most successful one. No fewer than 30 races were held and from a very Bmall beginning the membership had increased to 70 The racing, which was held on Mill s Beach, was keen and all prizes.were closely contested. The club took part in mter-club contests for three and four-boaters and although not successful, it hoped to do better showed e credit balance of £3 6s 6d, with no liabilities. The following officers were elected:— Patron. Mr. J. Park; vice patron, Mr. W. J. Jordan. M.P.; president, Mr. B. Murray; commodore, Mr. C. Bartlett; club cap* tain, Mr. L. C. Retter; hon. tronsurcr. Mr. A. E. Scibert; hon. secretary. Mr. A S. Wood; starter and timekeeper, Mr. J. Jelfs; judge, Mr Wood: committeo, Messrs. 11. Jackson. H. Evans, W. Everitt. C. Pascoc, A. E. Seibert; handicappcr, Mr. A. Jeffs: sailing committeo, Messrs. Bartlott, Wood and 8 H. Bruford. It was decided to open tho 1933-34 season on Saturday, October 21, and to hold events on alternate Saturdays. Mr. Bruford, the retiring commodore, was presented with his flag of office in recognition of lii 3 good work. PONSONBY CLUB A year of progress was shown by tho report of the Ponsonby Model Yacht Club, presented at the first annual meeting last evening. The commodore. Mr. W. A. Wilkitißon, presided over a good attendance. The club's racing programme, tho report (stated, was £i special feature of the season. Twenty-one days wero devoted to racing, 64 events were carried out during tho year and no fewer than 431 boats started U> tho events. Tho formation of the club last season caused a revival of model yachting in Auckland, which was now very popular. In the inter-club races the Ponsonby Club epierged tho winners. In tho 3ft. class competition was very keen, bvt in tho 4ft. class, the club carried of! the first, second and third prizes on all occa--8 Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £3 with no liabilities. Tho chairman said the club had every reason to congratulate itself on tho splendid progress it had made during the year. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron. Mr. E. H. Kirkll0 It' was decided to open the season on August 20, when races will be held for 3ft. and 4ft. models and also a general handicap for all-coniers.
