RAID BY DETECTIVES
ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE SEVEN MEN ARRESTED CHINESE OCCUPIER REMANDED One Chinese and six Europeans were arrested as a result of a raid by Detectives Hayes and Moore, with rctingDetcctivn Brady and Constable Miller, on premises at 57 Grey's Avenue early yesterday afternoon. The seven men later appeared in tlio Police Court before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., when the Chinese, Ah Tong, aged 57, laundryman (Mr. Sullivan), was charged that, being the occupier, ho used the premises as a. common gaming-house. Detective-Sergeant O'Sullivan said the place had been under observation for some time. Pakapoo tickets hud been found on the premises. Accused was remanded until this morning. He was allowed bail of £6O. The other six men were then charged with being found in a common gaminghouse without lawful excuse. : "You know it is an offence to bo found in these pakapoo places, but unfortunately there are so many that it is. easy to get there," the magistrate said, in lining each accused 10s.
