RADIUM RESEARCH
PHYSICIST FOR DOMINION A grant for three years has been made by the trustees of the Travel* estate, Christchurch, for the salary for successful candidate, who will be known as the "Travers Radiological Physicist," will be required to spend not fewer than three months and not more than six months in Australia with Professor Laby, Melbourne University, and with the Sydney University's cancer research department, m order to become acquainted with modern methods in the measurement of X-rays and the physical aspects of radium and radium emanation as applied to the treatment of cancer. On his return to New Zealand the duties of the physicist will be, inter alia, to inspect and calibrate all deep X-ray machines in New Zealand used for the treatment of cancer j to advise the various hospital boards" and other authorities; to take charge of the Dominion radium emanation plant at Wellington, and to carry out research work. »■
