REMARKABLE MILESTONE
The strangest milestone in England stands on the main London-to-East-bourne road near Lower Dicker, Sussex. It tells passers-by that it marks a spot 51 miles from Bow Church, Cheapside, by the cryptic device of a bow surmounting four bells. The bow and thejjells are of cast iron fixed to a post of ancient Sussex oak.
