METHODIST ORPHANAGES
APPOINTMENT OF MATRON DECLINE IN REVENUE The appointment of Miss D. Spooner, of Palmerston North, as matron of the Methodist orphange in Buckland Road, Epsom, was announced at the quarterly meeting of tho board of management. Thirty-one applications were received for tho vacancy, caused by the resignation of Mrs. M. Everiss. Miss Spooner has been for five years on tho staff of the All Saints' children's home at Foxton Beach, and will assume her new duties on' September 1. There are 42 children in the orphanage at Epsom, and including the children in tho two institutions at Mount Albert, thcro aro 101 children in Methodist orphanages in Auckland. The treasurer, tho Rev. G. Frost, reported that the orphanage funds were showing a decline in revenue, partly as a result of a reduction in maintenance fees. There was an overdraft of £7OO. '
