ELECTRIC RAIL-BUS
BRITISH FIRM'S NOVELTY HIGH SPEED AT LOW COST (Received August 4, 6.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Aug. o A new streamlined Diesel electric rail-bus, built by Armstrong Whitwortli, to make possible rail travel at high speed and low cost over short distances, was on show in London today. It carries its own power and has the advantage of quick starting and stopping without requiring a line to be electrified. The bus has 60 seats and weighs 17i tons. It can travel at a speed of 70 miles an hour. On a recent test it covered 267 miles at a cost of 4s lid a mile. _____
