CROSSING GARDEN BEDS CIVIL SERVANTS BLAMED J A stir Has been caused among civil : servants in Canberra by a statement from the curator of parks and gardens, Mr. A. E. Bruce, that senior Commonwealth servants in Canberra are among the worst offenders in taking short cuts |jj across garden beds and lawns near the two secretariats. Mr. Bruce added that no sooner was one p,ith dug up than another was formed parallel to it. He mentioned also that many of the offenders took short cuts across other lawna and plantations. Many thousands of pounds have been :.jgL spent on the gardens and in ploughing the uncultivated ground between trees, but civil servants say that in only a few places, and these unavoidablj*., havo §f they taken short cuts. f° Commenting on Mr. Bruce's statement, the clerk assistant of the House., of Representatives, Mr. F.
