WOMAN NOT GUILTY
ALLEGED THEFT OF £93 SUCCESSFUL ALIBI [I?T TEIiEGJEtArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday With an alibi as her defence, Minnie Marjorie O'Keefe, aged 42, pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court to-day when charged before Mr. Justice Reed and a jury with the theft of £93, tho property of Walter Byrne. ' The prosecution alleged that Byrne and accused had some drinks together. Ho paid for drinks with some money he took from a purse containing £9O odd. He went home alone and went to bed, placing the purse and money under his pillow. He woke up later and it was alleged that he found accused "going through" his clothes, which were on the floor. Accused went> into the passage and he followed, but accused had gone and the purse was missing. For the defence, evidence was given regarding O'Keefe's movements on th« night in question. Counsel also submitted that Byrne's evidence was not to be relied on, as on his own admission, he was in a dazed condition when ho woke up, having had up to 20 drinks that day.
Accused was found not guilty and was discharged.
