NEW PICTURE THEATRE
OLD TRAM DEPOT SITE - A proposal to erect a picture theatre on a portion of the old tramway depot site at Wallace Street, Heme Bay, was mentioned at the meeting of the City Council last evening. The council had insisted on this property being used for residential purposes, but the Auckland Transport Board had been unable to find purchasers. At last ovening's meeting a request was received from the board for permission to use two of the lots for business premises.
Tho city engineer recommended that in view of the fact that the buildinc to bo erected was a picture theatre he had no objection to the lots being used for this purpose. The application was referred to the Town Planning Committee with power to act.
