MOLLISONS IN NEW YORK MAYOR PRESENTS MEDALS ' NEW YORK, Aug. 1 Behind screaming police sirens and under a generous dousing of confetti and ticker tape, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Mollison drove along the heroes' route to the City Hall, New York, to-day for . an official reception. The police estimated that 200,000 people lined Broadway the Battery to the City Hall Park, shouting "Cheerio Amy," "Attaboy Jim." Mr. Mollison still wore bandages 011 his forehead. / 1 A gold medal was presented to each flier by the Mayor, Mr. John O'Brien. Their medical advisers had ordered them to rest for several days, and attendants were posted to stop all callers from disturbing them. Dr. Lee said: "Already the Mollisons are talking of flying td England and procuring an aeroplane from the Canadian branch of a factory which they believe has a duplicate of tho Seafarer. The Bridgeport crash has not scared them." j • The fliers may visit American airports in a borrowed machine and are considering a flight to tho Chicago World's Fair. Tho 'Mollisons regretfully declined Mr. "Wiley Post's offer of his Winnie Mae for the flight to England .or Bagdad, llrs. Putnam (Miss Amelia Earhart), transatlantic airwoman, has offered them tho use of her home in Bye, New York. They have been deluged with other invitations. UPPER ATMOSPHERE ANOTHER EXPLORATION BELGIAN SCIENTIST'S PLAN BRUSSELS, Aus. 1 M. Max Cosyns, 'who accompanied Professor Piccard 011 his historic balloon flight 10 miles into the upper atmosphere over Switzerland in 1931, together with M. de Bruyn, hopes to take off in a new balloon for a stratosphere ascent between August o and 5. They propose to start from a field 011 tho banks of tho lliver Lcssc. The scientist claims that his balloon can bo controlled, and the danger of being blown out to sea is obviated. His aim is ultimately to produce a stratosphere aeroplane.
