GUARDING THE BALLS
GOLFER'S USEFUL MAGPIE One member of a golf club at Guyra, •New South Wales, is much envied by fellow members. He has a poi; magpie which prevents crows stealing his golf balls. .The magpie accompanies the golfer on each round he play*. On two occasions on which a crow has pounced on the ball, and has looked like escaping with it, the magpie has "tackled" the crow, and has forced the bigger bird to drop it—much to the delight of the jwner, and to ;he surprise and envy if the other players.
