THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE GOLD SCRIP IN DEMAND There was a further contraction in investment business on tho Auckland btock Exchange yesterday, tho rejiult of a decline in selling pressure rather than any marked waning in buying support. Principal interest centred in goldmining shares, in which leading issues registered further sharp advances on strong support frpm London. Waihis touched a new high level on sale at 245, and liluckwatera were lifted to 27s 3d, after which holders advanced their quotations to 29s 3d . The demand for bank shares was maintained. New Zcalands reacted to tho previous day's higher levels and were secured at 49s 4d and 49s 3d, a fall of 3d at the latter price. Offers for Unions, ex dividend, were marked down Ik, but holders remained off the market. The insurance section also was steady. New Zcalands had sale twice unaltered nt, 52s 6d, at which price more were available. No important movements affected other investment sections. An easing of 3d took place in Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering*, B preference, in a deal at 15s. lli. .her levels ruled for Colonial Sugars al £">B, an advance of 10s, but only one. parcel was secured at this figure, sellers asking £SB 5s for more. Buying support was strong throughout the mining section, but the unsatisfied requirements of London operators resulted in Black waters rising 9d on sale to 275,3 d. At mid-day offers of 28s were made, but no supplies were forthcoming until the final call, when sellers ]ind advanced to 29s 3d. Consolidated Gold fields inovod in sympathy under the same stimulus and after sale 6d higher nt 12s Gil holders asked 12s 10(1 for more. "Waihis v.ero in strong request from London, and after moving up 4d nt the noon call to 23s 9d, registered a fi rtlier gain later in the day in dealing nt 245, which absorbed all the shares on offer.
