City avenged its defeat by Devonport in the final championship match by lowering the champions' colours in a fast and interesting match. PONSONBY DEFEATED Marist had a good win over Ponsonby which at one Btage threatened to cause a surprise. Ponsonby was first to attack, but Campbell placed Marist in a good position with nice kick 3. Marist was first to score. Flanagan going over in a good position, for Campbell to convert. A few minutes later Campbell added two points for Marist with a penally goal. Good play by Iveesing gave the Ponsonby backs a chance and B. Riley scored. Jones converted. Just before halftime Hassan raced round the blind side and passed to L. Schultz, who scored. Campbell failed to convert and half-time came with the score:—Marist, 10. ponsonby, 5. On resuming Ponsonby attacked strongly and pressed on the Marist line. Donald made a great, run from half-way and passed to beatherbarrow. A try looked certain, but Turei ctime buck fast and saved. After Devonport proosed on the City line for some time Donald broke through and Masefield scored , between the posts. Laing conveited. Play was ragged and there was little combined football.
