STERLING AND FRANC
POLICY OF BRITAIN LINKING NOT'CONTEMPLATED British Wireless. EUGBY, July 3f In answer to a question in the House of Commons to-day the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Mr. L, HoreBelisha, said there was no truth in the suggestion that sterling was to be tied to the franc. : The British Government's policy was to prevent the frequent and wide fluctuations in exchange which were due purely to speculative, influences. No inference could be drawn from the fact that fluctuations in the gold value of sterling were not very wide at this par-' ticular time. There was no reason to suppose that the Dominion Governments and the Governments of countries in the sterling area saw any objection to this policy.
