STRIKE EXTENDED
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD, July 25 The directors of the motion picture studios'in Hollywood endeavoured to maintain production to-day when 5000 more technicians struck. Union workers left their posts, their spokesmen said, because the directors yesterday employed non-union men to replace C 65 sound technicians, who had struck on Saturday. Tho producers attributed the trouble to an argument between two unions as to which bad jurisdiction over the sound men. The sound men's organisation anrci'nced that the studio musicians might strike by virtue of their trade agreements with the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Kmployces. A comnlete "lie-tin" of production would afreet, it is estimated, 27,000 to 30,000 persons, who are gaining their livelihood in Hollywood.
