AN OVERDUE PROMISE NEW MATERNITY HOSPITAL A meeting of tho.Auckland executive of the New Zealand Obstetrical Appeal, which achieved such a remarkable success when it was launched a year or so ago, was held in. tho Y.W.C.A. yesterday morning and was presided over by Mrs. A. I). Campbell. Apologies were received from Ladv Robertson (secretary) and Mrs. Kenneth Gordon. After discussion had taken place in regard to the delay in building a maternity hospital in Dunedii), the following protest was endorsed: —"In 1930 the women of the Auckland province raised a sum of over £II,OOO toward the endowment of an obstetrical chair on the distinct understanding that the Government was to build a. new maternity hospital in Dunedin at a cost of £'50,000. We, the office-bearers, who represent the thousands of workors for and subscribers to tho appeal, have abstained from harassing the Government during this time of stress, but now that £500,000 is to bo released for building purposes, wo strongly urge that the long-promised hospital should bo proceeded with at an early date."
