COACHING JUNIOR PLAYERS REPRESENTATIVE CONTESTS In spite of the largo influx of junior players to th& code, many of the finer points of the game were being missed through lack of coaching, according to a statement .made by Dr. Neil McDougall, chairman of tho lAuckland Football Association. at Inst night's meeting •of the control board, Several other members spoke in similar strain, and suggested that the newly-formed coaching committee should give the juniors every consideration. Mr. P. Neesham, of the coaching committee. stated that, while it realised tho urgent need of coaching, it was governed by the fact that the number of old players offering their services were not sufficient to go round. Tho need for tho assistance of more ex-plnyerß was made more imperative by the fact that at leflst three junior representative teams would be going on tour this year, and would require al! tho coaching tlicy could get. It was decided that tho clubs and any old players available should bo asked to join the couching committee as soon as possible. Tho Otago Association wrote to the effect that it suggested August 26 as the date for the English Trophy match against Auckland at Dunedin, but, as this dale coincided with the playing of the Chatham Cup filial nt Wellington, it had written to the New Zealand Council, asking that this final be postponed. The Wosthind Association intimated that it was prepared to pay tho return travelling expenses and accommodation of tho Auckland representative team from Christchurcli to Gjeymonth, if the team could ploy ft game there on its way back from Otago. The date of the match would be Wednesday, August 30. It was decided to accede tn the reQueat. Tho Wellington Association suggested that a match should ho played at Wellington by the touring team on Saturday, September 2. As this fixture was subject to the decision of the New Zealand Council relative to the Otago-Auckland game, and the Chatham Cup filial, it was decided to notify the Wellington Association that Auckland waa prepared to play a game if suitable arrangements could be made. Mention was made of tho fact that 193G will bo the jubilee year of Association football in Auckland, and that arrangements should be considered in connection with the possibility of visits from overseas and provincial teams for that year. It was decided to form a Bub-committee to go into the matter. The following officials were appointed for Saturday to l outside grounds:—Onehungu, Mr. A. B. Clin ppell-c North Shore, Mr. .T C. Sibbin; Western Springs, Mr.. P. Neesham; St. Holiers, Mr. G. T. Lee. The following transfers were approved:— J. Nicholson, from Abel's to Thistle; J. Dorinan. from Henderson to New Accord. BUSINESS HOUSES! ASSOCIATION The important part played by tho business houses' competition in Auckland Soccer, and the increaiing popularity of tho mid-week competitions, were commented upon by Mr L. J. Cheek at the annual meeting of the Business Houses' Association. Seven teams had entered for the competition. which necessitated a hyo in each grade, and it was decided to accept another entry, if forthcoming, to obviate this bye. Two new teams have entered. Hospital and Glendowie. The draw was made and it, was agreed to commence the competition on Wednesday, August 9. The following officers were elected:- President, Ml'. Abel; vice-presidents.
