• McCOWATT BEATS PEARCE The open snooker championship was advanced another stage nt. Phillips' Billiards 1 arlours Inst night, when a match wns played between B. Pearco and W. McCowatt. Tho first game, in which neither player took any chances, was evently contfated, until tho colours wo-o reached, when McCowatt secured them in a break and won hy 63 to 47. Tho second game was played moro openly, both players scoring freely. Pearco missed several chances and McCowatt gradually drew ahead to win by 58 points to 27. J. "Aitken will piny A.
