OVERLOADED LORRY
OWNER TO PAY £lO IN FINES WARNING BY MAGISTRATE [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMTJTU, "Wednesday For transporting a lorry load of timber of a total weight of tons, over tho Great South Road on June 19, four miles south of Te Awamutu, when licensed to carry a gross weight of 5J tons, a Putaruru lorry-owner, Donald Duff, was fined £5 on each of two charges. Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., said it seemed to be a case of deliberate overloading. Such excess loads could do a groat deal of damage to bridges and culverts. If defendant appeared before him again on similar charges ho could expect a more severe penalty.
