FRAUD AND THEFT
YOUNG MAN FOUND GUILTY JURY RECOMMENDS LENIENCY [BY TELEGRAPH rRESS association] WELLINGTON. Wednesday Lengthy evidence was heard at the trial of David Rosenthal in the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Peed and a jury, on two charges of false pretences and a charge of theft. Tho trial began on Monday afternoon, and was not concluded until to-day. Mr. Meltzer, for tlae defence, addressed tho jury this morning for an hour and a-half. He was. followed by Mr. Macassey for the Crown, after which His Honor summed up. Tho jury retired at 12.17 p.m., and returned after tho luncheon adjournment with a verdict of guilty on all counts, and a recommendation to leniency on account of the prisoner's age, which is 23. The prisoner was remanded for sentence.
