OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP There was a large attendance nt Phillips' billiards parlours lust evening, when W Knott met \V. Culjen in the Auckland snooker open championship. Knott started brilliantly in the first gnme and obtained a big lend, but Culjen gradually overtook him. (lie scores being level after the '»ue ■' n '' went. Knott eventually obtained both veninini'ig balls and won by 1 58 to 43. , y" 1 ® second game w«s an exhibition of straightout i-ottini by both players. Cvllen required the last three colours to win. but. after obtaining two, he unfortunately left the bla<;K ball over the pocket- for Knott, who again won by 00 t0.55. W. 'MeCowatt will play B. Pearcc this evening. \
