Odors for a number of 4 per cent (Jovernmcnt loans were lifted and trading took place in 1940 and 19-19 stock at improved levels. The former was placed at £IOO 10s, which is only 10a lower than the cum interest price earlier in the month, while the latter was done 5s higher at £IOO 15s. A de"clinc of 7s Od took place in the 1955's in two transactions at par. Tho demand was also keener for local body loans and commercial debentures and some supplies were secured at firmer levels. Holders of bank shares were very strong, in spite of increased offers by buyers. Con? B mercials of Australia sold 2d dearer at 16s 4d. Commercials of Sydney v.« ;o done Is lower at £l6 19s, and New Zealands were released 2d cheaper at 48s lOd, but all banks with headquarters in England were in firmer request. In insurance New Zealands advanced Is 3d on tho last Auckland business, two deals taking place at 51s 6d. Nationals were taken Id better at 16s 9d. A riso of Is 6d took place in Wellington Woollens, preference, on sale at £5 4s. New Zealand Ilrewories were secured unaltered at 33s 4d. Miscellaneous investments were active, New Zealand industrials again predominating on tho day's turnover. Late rates ruled except in the case of Wilsons Cements, which shaded 4d in business at 33s 4d, and Moturoa Oils, which registered a drop of 3s lid to lid since the last sale hero in March. Colonial Sugars were placed twice at £57, the current price. Mining business was done at fluctuating levels. Blackwaters gave way 3d on sale at 25s 9d, and Bell-Kilgours lost 2d. Nokomais firmed a shade, but closed unaltered on trading at 4s and 4s, whilo Waihi Grand Junctions were fractionally dearer at 3s Bd. Waihis were sought again at 22s lOd, but holders withdrew at tho final call after earlier quotations of 23s 3d.
