ROYAL VISITOR OUT LONG SPELL DECIDED UPON Latest reports from the Waikato are to the effect that Royal Visitor will not keep his engagements in the Grand National Hurdles and Grand . National Steeplechase at Riccarto.n next month. The unsoundness that affected him at the Auckland RacLg Club's Winter Meeting has not disappeared and it has been decided to turn him out for a good spell, which .will extend • until next year. Royal Visitor's defection is unfortunate for'his connections because ho was a really good jumper who was just coming to his best and would probably have taken high honours this winter if all hryd been well with him. . SURPRISE OAKS VICTORY GOAT AS WINNER'S COMPANION I , Chatelaine, tho surprise winner of the Oaks last month, had never previously won a race. She races in the colours of Mr. E. Thornton-Smith, to whom she has been leased by Mr. C. M. Prior. Mr. ThorntonSmith sr-id:—"Chatelaine is a very temperamental filly, and everywhere she goes a white goat accompanies her. It is now in her stable at Epsom, and when she gets back she will bo welcomed by this favourito of hers." NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP Tho rising three-year-old Chief Emerald, by Chief Ruler from Queen Emerald, has grown into a very big horse and looks as if he will take a good while to mature. Up to the present he has been very patiently handled and it is unlikely that W. Kemp will ntlempt to hurrv him until ho has finished growing The rising two-year-old gelding by Tea Tray from Par Money in G. Holland's stable at Ellerslie lias been named Tray Bit. The youngster has grown and furnished a good deal since commencing work and does not lack size So far he has not been asked any serious questions, but is thriving and shaping very satisfactorily.

So far the rising three-year-old by Surveyor from Te Moti, who is being trained by G. Holland, has not shown anything special on tho tracks but he has acquitted himself very satisfactorily in his latest track efforts and is not without promise. He is a full-brother to On Top and is a good mover who may dovelop speed us his preparation advances.

Gold Money is still running out in the paddock as a result of (he knock she gave herself before Ihe Auckland Winter Meeting and W. Kemp is hopeful that she will be able to resume work soon. Gold Money will be eight years old next month, but sho was showing much of her former brilliancy before going out and may possibly return to form if she stands up to training.

Sunny Sky has not been required to gallop fast since she resumed work, but she has made good progress and slrown no signs of the soreness that affected her on tho evo of the Auckland Winter Meeting. Sunny Sky seems to thrive on a light preparation, and. if she maintains her present rate of improvement, should be fairly forward for the cpecial meeting at Ellerslie next Saturday week. When at Ellerslie. for tho winter meeting Pnngo was responsible for some smart, trne'e efforts, but failed (o make a showing in his only Htnrl on account of beginning badly in n. big field Pango is an improver who is capable of displaying betler form than he has yet revealed and he should be a possibility for a hack race at Trentham this week. Ho is handily placed with 8.11 in the Woburn Handicap to-day. RACING FIXTURES July 11. 33. 15—Wellington Racing Club. July 20—Waimnte District Hunt Club. July 22—Auckland Ra-ing Club.
