This will leave eight runners, representing tho best form in both islands. Paddon, who was the best hurdler last year, looks likely to perform well again, but High Falutin', -Membo. Gold Knight and Henry of Navarre will all keep him busv at the difference in weights, while Adventus, who turned up to-day looking particularly well is nicely handicapped. On tho season's form of the two light-weights on the minimum Miss Hastings looks ths more probable. The best suppcited may be PADDON. GOLD KNIGTTT. , HENRY OP NAVARRE.

Seatown comes fresh from his Auckland success and Cylinder is improving all the time, although the ground may not suit the latter. The distance may be a little short for Refract, but. AIJ Humbug is likely to run very well. Curio will have to improve, but the rest from Chief Marionette down' to Zeebruggo all have recent form, and they include ft couple of mudlarks in Little Doubt, and Water Power, ■whose previous form at Trentham under ft similar state of doing fuipnests they will run well again. Of the light-weights Stanchion has been working well oil the tracks. A surprise looks possible in this event, but form suggests that tho public May support
